Cats beat MK to book semis spot

Swindon Wildcats shocked league champions MK Lightning to land a spot in the English Premier League play-off semis last night.

 
Ryan Aldridge’s side continued their incredible run of form, coming from behind to equalise and then taking the victory with two late goals.

 

Saturday’s report…

Tonight saw the first leg of the play-offs where Swindon played host to league champions Milton Keynes Lightening. With previous matches between the two sides being a close affair, expectations of an exciting game were high.

 

Things did not start Cats way when MK took the lead after just 3 minutes of the first period. However, not all hope was lost when Kohut equalised to end the first period with a 1-1 draw.

 

MK came out in the second period and were dominating play in the Swindon end and with some sloppy defending from the homeside they were unable to clear the puck from their zone and MK took advantage by netting their second goal of the night.

 

With Cats 1 goal down and 1 period left they had all to play for. Some great play from Danilics and Kohut saw Kohut bag Cats second goal to tie the scoreline at 2-2.

 

The final 6 minutes of the game saw both sides give their all before scoring a goal a piece ending the game with a 3-3 draw With an outstanding performance from Chris Douglas saw him receive Man Of The Match for the homeside.

 

Swindon are now through to the play-off finals at Coventry.
